Wrinkles, sun damage, crow’s feet, fine lines, acne scars, sun spots, discoloration, redness or blotchiness all tell a story of the passage of time on our faces.
Microdermabrasion acts like a fine eraser helping to minimize the appearance of these nasty, skin dulling, youth thieves. Basically microdermabrasion is a skin-freshening technique designed to reverse the signs of aging and the effects of sun damage.
So what actually happens?
The procedure is performed in our office using the latest technology and our state-of-the-art equipment. The entire procedure takes 30 minutes to an hour, there is no recovery time, you’ll be free to leave the office immediately after.
Your doctor will apply gentle abrasion and suctioning to the skin. Microdermabrasion stimulates the production of skin cells and collagen, leaving the skin looking more supple and smooth.
What about after the procedure?
There will be some minor irritation during the first 24 hours following Microdermabrasion such as some slight discomfort, dryness and tightness of the treated skin. Some patients experience redness, but it should only last a few days.
As with most procedures done to the face, there are risks of bleeding, infection, hyper pigmentation and/or scarring. Most patients who get Microdermabrasion have to get more than one treatment to achieve their goals.
