Facelift

A skilled surgeon can take the youthful vitality we have on the inside and show the world how we feel on the outside – literally erasing the years from our faces.

As we age, we often notice our skin isn’t as firm and tight as it once was and may appear droopy. That sagging skin makes you look tired, worried or anxious.

A facelift Fort Lauderdale is designed for those who want to remove the most obvious signs of aging. It eliminates deep creases from the nose to the mouth, jowls that are created by slackened muscles in the lower face and a double chin caused by fat deposits in the neck.

A facelift improves the contour of the face, jawline and neck. It’s done by removing excess fat and tightening the facial muscles and skin – restoring a smooth, toned appearance – bringing back that youthful, fresh glow.

So what actually happens?

Our facelift Fort Lauderdale are performed in our state-of-the-art surgical suites under general or local anesthesia. It can take several hours. You’ll return to the comfort of your own home to recover on the same day as the surgery.

The doctor will make an incision beginning at the temple just above the hairline and continues around the ear to the lower scalp hairline. The skin is separated from the fat and muscle and redraped. Excess skin is trimmed. Excess fat is removed to improve the contour of the neck and jawline. The muscles are then tightened for a lasting effect.

What about after surgery?

There’ll be some bruising, swelling, possible numbness and tenderness of the skin. The skin will feel tight and dry. The bruising and tenderness will last for two to three weeks. Patients are advised not to engage in strenuous activities for at least a month. Depending on the type of work they do, most patients are able to return to work within a month. All patients are advised to stay out of the sun for a few months following the surgery to ensure the best possible healing.

As with every surgical procedure, there are possible risks involved. Our doctors will review all possible complications any limitations you may have post-op and answer all of your questions ahead of surgery. Risks following facelift surgery include: heavy bleeding, infection, excess scarring, asymmetry or a change in hairline, and injury to facial nerves.
