#Labiapuff: Injecting Fillers Into the Labia Majora

Many women seek labia majora rejuvenation as they age. Due to the natural aging process as well as other factors, such as repeated childbirths, scarring from episiotomies and major weight loss, the labia majora can decrease in size and symmetry, leaving women feeling embarrassed of their femininity. While treatments for the labia were once limited to invasive surgeries that left women with a lot of time for recovery as well as higher chances of surgical risks, today the same results can be achieved with a less invasive option that is quick, easy and convenient.

Labia majora augmentation with hyaluronic acid-based fillers is increasing in popularity in many countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom. Many women are already familiar with this popular, smooth gel that is used in numerous dermal fillers, particularly those used in the face for decreasing wrinkles and filling out the tissues due to aging. Hyaluronic acid is a substance found in everyone’s body. It naturally draws water towards it, allowing tissues to appear plump and supple. When used in the labia majora, studies have shown that the majority of women do experience positive results and significant rejuvenation of these tissues.

Hyaluronic acid is placed into the labia majora using skillfully injections in several key areas. Patients are awake during the entire procedure. After the injections, the tissues will plump up over the following days, and women may be able to see complete results within the week. Of course, the fillers may need to be re-injected every 6 to 12 months or so for continued results. This is because the results of the procedure eventually fade even though special cross-linked hyaluronic acid molecules are used to increase the longevity of the product in the tissues.

This simple treatment can improve sensitivity in the area and, in some circumstances, make daily activities, such as sitting and wearing tighter pants, much more comfortable. Of course, for many women, the main improvement is in the confidence gained.

A study published in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal in late 2016 showed that of the 31 patients tested, all had great results and there were practically no complications. Also, this proved to be a great treatment option for poor labia majora elasticity, tone and volume. It is a quick process and requires virtually no downtime.
