Minimize the Appearance of Wrinkles with Juvederm

The development of wrinkles is one of the most common hallmarks of aging. This undesirable skin change is due to structural breakdowns within skin cells and connective tissues. As we grow older, skin components like collagen and elastin begin breaking down more easily, leading to a loss of facial volume and skin elasticity. Many patients operate under the mistaken belief that only a facelift can correct wrinkles. However, treatments with dermal fillers like Juvederm® can offer similar results as a facelift without the need to resort to surgery. Non-surgical treatment options do not require incisions or lengthy downtimes. There is also a far lesser chance of developing a skin infection when no incisions are required.

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable substances that help promote facial volume and smooth away fine lines and wrinkles. While not a permanent solution, dermal fillers do offer significant results that are long-lasting.

What is Juvederm®?

Juvederm® is a type of dermal filler that offers long-lasting results in increasing facial fullness and minimizing wrinkles. It is injected into the face where needed to increase skin thickness and volume. The main ingredient in this filler is a substance known as hyaluronic acid. Most people have never heard of the substance, although it is produced by their own bodies and is commonly found in many skin care products.

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally-occurring substance produced by your own body. It is found in many soft tissues like the areas between your joints, in your eyes, and in your skin cells. Its ability to attract and bind moisture is unparalleled. As you grow older, you produce less hyaluronic acid, leading to the development of fine lines and wrinkles.

How Does Juvederm® Work?

Juvederm® works by replacing the depleted hyaluronic acid with an injection of a gel. Once injected, this gel goes to work inside your skin to replace the hyaluronic acid that you have lost due to the aging process. This reverses the skin changes caused by hyaluronic acid depletion.

Juvederm® offers results that are longer-lasting than other dermal filler products. It is also a remarkably comfortable treatment because it contains lidocaine to ensure your comfort during your procedure. Your results should last for quite a while, and follow-up treatments are simple and convenient.
